Leading up to the dental crown placement, we inspect the problem tooth or teeth and take X-rays or moldings to ensure we understand the extent of the damage and the best way to approach the problem. If the tooth has a large cavity or damaged area, we will file down the tooth down to remove the damaged or decayed area.
After we’ve filed down the tooth, we take an impression of the teeth around the tooth to make sure that the crown we create matches the other teeth and won’t cause problems. Finally, we put on a temporary crown to protect your tooth until the final crown has been made. Once the final version is complete, you’ll come back into our office for the final fitting.
After that, you can return to your normal activities with healthy and strong teeth.
